THE ROCK L. BUTLER MIDDLE SCHOOL HOLIDAY CHORUS CONCERT WITH SINGERS FROM THE 6TH THROUGH 8TH GRADES UNDER THE BATON OF DIRECTOR MORGAN SHAFFER IS WEDNESDAY, DEC. 7 AT 6:30 P.M. IN THE WELLSBORO HIGH SCHOOL AUDITORIUM ON NICHOLS STREET. THIS CONCERT IS FREE AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. PIANO ACCOMPANIST IS CHRISTINA SIMONIS. THE 19-MEMBER SIXTH GRADE CHORUS WILL OPEN THE CONCERT BY SINGING FOUR SONGS. THE 56-MEMBER COMBINED SEVENTH AND EIGHTH GRADE CHORUS WILL THEN PERFORM FOUR SONGS. FOR THE FINAL NUMBER, BOTH CHORUSES WILL JOIN TOGETHER IN SINGING A MEDLEY ENTITLED "ROCKIN' CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION."

THE NESSMUK ROD AND GUN CLUB IS HOSTING SHOOTS IN DECEMBER AT ITS INDOOR RANGE AT 4646 ROUTE 287 IN DELMAR TOWNSHIP, 3 MILES SOUTH OF WELLSBORO. SHOOTS FOR ANY CALIBER HANDGUN WITH LEAD OR CAST BULLETS WILL BE AT 6:15 P.M. ON TUESDAYS, DEC.13, 20 AND 27. EACH SHOOTER WILL BE GIVEN FIVE TARGETS FOR 10 ROUNDS EACH.  SHOOTS FOR .22 CALIBER RIFLES WILL BE AT 6:15 P.M. ON THURSDAYS, DEC. 8, 15, 22 AND 29. SHOOTERS WILL BE GIVEN ONE TARGET WITH 10 BULL'S-EYES.

FRIDAY, DEC. 9 FROM 4-7 P.M., DEANE LITTLE BEANS PHOTOS WITH SANTA WILL BE IN THE LOBBY AT THE DEANE CENTER FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS AT 104 MAIN STREET IN WELLSBORO. THIS EVENT IS FREE AND OPEN TO CHILDREN AND THEIR PARENTS. AT 4 P.M., SANTA CLAUS WILL ARRIVE AT THE DEANE CENTER ABOARD TONY'S TROLLEY. EACH CHILD WILL VISIT WITH SANTA, HAVE HIS OR HER PHOTO TAKEN AND BE GIVEN THE 4-BY 6-INCH COLOR PHOTOGRAPH FREE. CHILDREN CAN ENJOY SNACKS, MAKE AN ORNAMENT AND A HOLIDAY CRAFT WITH ALL SUPPLIES PROVIDED FREE, LISTEN TO CHRISTMAS STORIES READ BY HAMILTON-GIBSON'S ELDER ELVES AND PARTICIPATE IN A CHRISTMAS CAROL SING-ALONG LED BY PAT DAVIS OF WELLSBORO, PIANO ACCOMPANIST FOR THE WELLSBORO MEN'S CHORUS, AND JULIE SCHLOSSER AND LIZ CARRAS, BOTH OF ARTS FOR ALL IN MANSFIELD. PAUL’S EPISCOPAL CHURCH ON PEARL STREET IN WELLSBORO ON SUNDAY, DEC. 11 AT 2:30 P.M. AUDIENCE MEMBERS ARE INVITED TO SING THE CHORUSES OF THE CHRISTMAS PORTION OF HANDEL’S “MESSIAH" AND THE "HALLELUJAH" CHORUS AND LISTEN AS MANSFIELD UNIVERSITY CHORAL PROGRAM STUDENTS SING THE SOLOS . AN ADVENT SERVICE OF LESSONS AND CAROLS WILL BE SUNDAY, DEC. 11 AT 3 P.M. IN ST. JAMES EPISCOPAL CHURCH AT 30 EAST WELLSBORO STREET IN MANSFIELD. DURING THE SERVICE, LOCAL MUSICIANS AND SINGERS WILL PERFORM SELECTIONS FOR HANDBELL CHOIR, VOICE, GUITAR, HARP, BAGPIPES, AND HARMONICA. THESE PIECES WILL BE PAIRED WITH READINGS FOR THE ADVENT SEASON TO PRESENT A CONTEMPLATIVE SERVICE IN PREPARATION FOR THE HOLIDAYS.
